Nurses Sue for Sexual Harassment and Retaliation

Two hospital nurses, alleging a hostile work environment and sexual harassment by an emergency room physician, reported the physician’s behavior to the hospital’s human resources director. The nurses alleged that the physician had engaged in open, unwelcome touching as well as verbal harassment in the emergency room during the prior seven months. After reporting the harassment, both nurses were reassigned to less desirable working hours to avoid contact with the physician. The nurses then sued the physician for harassment and the hospital for retaliation. Total Cost: $395,000.
