Lazy Agency Costs A&E firm $75k per year

Industry: Architects and Engineers Exposure: $4 million Coverage Benefit: Helped Explain Insurance, dropped deductible from $100,000 to $50,000 Savings: $63,000 or 51%

Insurance Problem

An architects and engineers firm was insured by multiple carriers with an agency who had insured them for many years. As individual agents at the agency retire, the insured had been transferred from new agent to new agent. The most recent agent showed obvious signs of laziness, which resulted in overpriced insurance policies with inappropriate exclusions and limitations.

Risk Management Solution

We removed the hammer clause and the asbestos exclusion, and added consent to settle as well as coverage for ADA, FHA and OSHA. At the same time, we dropped the deductible from $100,000 to $50,000 and dropped the premium from $125,000 to $62,000.

Results

The insured learned how coverage worked through our simple coverage descriptions, and finally had coverage that actually protected the firm.
